Have you ever thought about what makes a dozen donuts so great? For most people, it is the variety of choices that are available. From chocolate cake to glazed to maple bars and bear claws, the variety and options feels endless. I want you and your family to have that same feeling at home.
This recipe is for cake-style donuts and you can make them in any size that you want. Full size donuts, mini donuts, donut holes or any other style you like. For those of you not prepared to make your own donuts, plain cake donuts work great too! You can often find these at your local grocery bakery. In either case, the preparation and or acquisition of the donuts is just the beginning.
The fun starts when you start to consider how you want to create your own variety of styles and flavors. For this recipe, I started with three different Litehouse® dipping sauces including Chocolate and Caramel, but honestly feel free to use any of their dipping sauces. I personally feel like the Cream Cheese would make for an amazing donut dipper as well.
In either case, once your donuts are ready to go, I recommend glazing half of your donut in your preferred dipping sauce. This helps avoid sticky fingers and allows for dipping of the remaining donut into another sauce flavor if you so desire. Litehouse® dipping sauces also make for great targets for garnish. Adding sprinkles, nuts, coconut, chocolate, or your favorite flavor can help create an endless variety of flavors, colors, and styles. This can be a lot of fun and often turns a boring weekend morning or post dinner dessert into an entertaining culinary distraction that the entire family can enjoy.
