It’s Snacktember! That’s not a real thing, but it feels like it should be! I’m pumping out snacks left and right; suddenly I provide more snacks than meals these days. Snacks for school, snacks for lunch, snacks for the long bus ride home, after school snacks, post homework snacks, post football practice snacks, and oh yeah… Big boy football is back!
That means snacks all Sunday long, and Monday nights, and Wednesdays… Why do I even bother with meals anymore? We could easily snack our way through September.
Thank goodness for hummus. I can whip up huge batches, flavor them in any way I choose, freeze it, serve it, send it with a school lunch, ect. Hummus is a my life saver in a snack crisis, and a cheap one at that. Hummus wasn’t always so affordable, those jars of Tahini, a sesame paste typically used in traditional hummus, can cost a pretty penny and be rather difficult to find.
They always seem to hide them in some “we don’t know where to put this stuff” corner of the store. Eventually I grew tired of not only circling the store 5 times to find it but also paying $7 for a jar, so I just started making hummus without the Tahini and you know what? I didn’t miss it! Not one little bit. Neither did any of my family members.
This insanely simple recipe for Buffalo Blue Cheese Hummus will surely knock your socks off. It is packed with the spicy tangy flavor of Buffalo Wing sauce and has a cool finish from the creamy Litehouse Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing. Just like eating the real deal Buffalo Chicken Wings, only without the chicken.
As a fanatic fan of anything doused in wing sauce I can tell you with the utmost confidence that this stuff will appease any craving you may have for the traditional wings. Whip up a double batch in less than 10 minutes and freeze half for later use, or a last minute Football Party. Serve the rest of the Buffalo Blue Cheese Hummus with veggies and pita bread for a faster, healthier, and vegetarian alternative to traditional wings. It is packed full of protein from the Garbanzo beans (a.k.a. chickpeas) and will fill up and energize any sport playing kid or sport watching adult.
