I know that the football theme has since evolved from the days of the jingle mentioned above. That jingle seems to ramble through my head whenever anyone mentions football. And while I have mentioned before that I am not a huge fan of the sport, I do enjoy the Super Bowl. Not so much for the football but more for the food and friends. And so with the weeks winding down before the big game, I have been thinking of some creatively delicious foods to bring to a Super Bowl party.
Let’s start with the basics. No football party is complete without buffalo wings, chips and salsa, and an array of sliders. I really enjoy sliders because they allow you to get a good taste of the burger without having the sacrifice other snacks at the party. You can also create chicken or BBQ sliders and I would definitely partake in those as well. Bite-size food is great for parties with an array of snack options.
So let’s talk about what I did here. I started with pretzel roll sliders. Who can seriously pass up a pretzel roll?! I opted for a slightly spicy burger made with chipotle chili peppers in adobo sauce. If you haven’t tried these before they are quite addicting to add to recipes. The sauce is smoky and the peppers add a nice zip to any dish. If you want less of a spice, remove the seeds before using them. To top off the spicy burger I opted for a “cool” slaw made with Litehouse Coleslaw Dressing. I guarantee the tray of these chipotle barbecue burgers will be gone in no time!
So let me be the first to say that you don’t have to enjoy football to enjoy Super Bowl Sunday. Keep your snacks bite-sized and make sure they are able to be picked up with your fingers or a chip/cracker. If you’re not up for messy buffalo wings, how about some Buffalo Chicken Pockets to save on the mess? Stick to the basics, give a lot of options and I’m sure you’ll have a lot of happy party guests!
