Valentine’s Day is approaching and I don’t know about you but I’m still trying to shake off all the wintery holiday treats.
I noticed at the stores we had roughly a two day break in between Christmas chocolate and heart shaped chocolate. Not exactly a problem for a chocolate loving person like myself.
I am however, trying to reserve treats for the weekend instead of my once or twice a day schedule I found myself getting pretty comfortable with. To celebrate Valentine’s Day, which is conveniently so close to Friday this year, I’m bringing out the Dessert Kabobs! I mean, I did skewer a two to one ratio of fruit so I count that as a win.
Dessert Kabobs are fun and easy to assemble. You could go as simple or elaborate as you want. I kept mine fairly simple but made two varieties. I used chocolate brownies with strawberries and blackberries and another one with angel food cake, strawberries and blackberries.
If you really wanted to get crazy you could pick up a variety of fruit, mini donuts, cakes, even pie. Anything you can dice up or fit on a skewer. Of course like most delicious food on a stick, you tend to need a dip to go alongside. Litehouse has the perfect option with their chocolate dip singles. Have you tried them yet? If not, they are the ideal partner for sliced bananas and strawberries!
I could see these dessert kabobs being a huge hit at birthdays and baby showers. Or just hanging out, watching your favorite show on the couch. Speaking of tv shows and couches, that’s my ideal Valentine’s date this year. A cozy night in!
