I was a picky eater as a child. I remember giving my mom such a hard time at the dinner table. I wouldn’t eat vegetables. I wouldn’t eat most kinds of meat. The list of foods I liked was short. You’ll be surprised at one of my favourite childhoods though: shrimp!
Yes, this picky kid LOVED shrimp. So much so that I wrote a creative writing essay on shrimp when I was in elementary school. While other kids chose chocolate or candy to write about, I picked shrimp. Go figure!
Today, I’m still a huge shrimp fan and thankful that most of my family enjoys it, too! We eat it several times a month in our home.
The best way to serve shrimp, in my opinion, is with lots of GARLIC! You cannot go wrong with a meal of Garlic Shrimp. It’s easy to put together and the flavour is out of this world.
This recipe is a huge hit in my home. Each bite is filled with delicious shrimp smothered in a buttery garlic sauce (with a hint of lemon). I add a little red pepper flakes for spice, but you could leave them out if you aren’t a fan.
I typically buy frozen shrimp that has already been deveined and peeled. Sometimes I will remove the tails and sometimes not. It’s up to you if you want to do that. Thaw the frozen shrimp in the fridge overnight. Alternatively, you can do it the quick way (my personal preference) and place the frozen bag of shrimp in a sink full of cold water for about an hour.
While the shrimp is cooking on the stovetop, prepare some rice or pasta. You’ll love how the buttery garlicky flavour soaks in. It makes a complete meal in mere minutes!
If you are a seafood fan and want a simple dinner recipe, give these Garlic Shrimp a try! I hope your family loves it just as much as mine has.
