Today I’m going to talk about something that I know nothing about. Football. Actually, strike that. Today I’m going to talk about something that I know a lot about. Football snacks. With the biggest football event of the year coming up I’m sure that many of you are planning your menus for parties or gatherings filled with some of the traditional football food classics. Some of my favorites include nachos, sliders and my famous Baked Spicy Bourbon Chicken Wings.
Ever since I discovered the secret to making crispy baked chicken wings my life has been changed. My husband is always asking me if I can make them during the regular football season because they turn out crispy and delicious, just like you’d get in a restaurant. I love that they are baked because they still turn out crispy and some of the fat and calories are cut out by not frying these little wings.
I decided this year that instead of going with classic buffalo sauce I’d transform it into something more gourmet. This sauce is sweet, spicy and sticky, and pairs perfectly when dunked in chunky blue cheese dressing. You can easily kick up the heat on the sauce by adding additional hot pepper sauce into the mix or scale it back for a milder wing. I like to make the sauce the day before I need it so that all the flavors can blend together.
Add these Baked Spicy Bourbon Chicken Wings to your menu this weekend for the big game. Serve then with a side of blue cheese dressing, carrots and celery for the ultimate wing experience.
