Halloween is here and it’s my favourite part of fall! Is it because of mini chocolate bars? I’ll never tell! (it is)
This year like every year we’ll try to get the kids to eat a normal dinner before we head out for some door to door trick or treating. At least we’ve tried before they go completely crazy stuffing themselves with candies, chips and chocolate. I always feel sorry for teachers when Halloween lands on a weeknight! We usually start around our house then make our way by car over to both sets of grandparents. By then we’ve walked through enough neighbourhoods and snow that we’re ready to warm up. That’s right, it’s full blown winter here! Nothing completes a princess costume better than a pair of winter boots.
I’ve already eaten my fair share of peanut butter cups so I was thinking of some treats that weren’t too heavy but still really fun for the kids and I to make.
First up was Halloween Monster Popcorn. If you’re looking for a last minute treat to bring to school or a party this is really easy and it takes all of ten minutes to put together using microwave popcorn and Litehouse® Old Fashioned Caramel. The bulk sections are bursting with Halloween candies right now so it was fun to choose from. I also found spooky skeleton hand suckers that were perfect for right in the middle!
Next up was bite sized caramel apples decorated in Halloween sprinkles – we had fun dipping the tart apples in old fashioned caramel then choosing from our favourite sprinkles. Toothpicks are the perfect size and keep fingers from getting sticky.
