Freshly made Honey and Herb Glazed Ham

Of all the holidays out there, Easter is one of my favourites. We find it much more relaxed than the craziness and expense of Christmas and more focused on the kids and food! Each year our city has a number of egg hunts, all are free and encourage a donation of food, which we love! The kids happily go through our cupboards and gather bags of items to donate in exchange for brightly coloured foil eggs. The main egg hunt is held at one of the local parks where the kids are separated into different age groups. The older the child, the farther and harder they have to look. At the end there’s prizes and everyone goes home with a big chocolate bunny. Such fun!

There’s also the family dinner to look forward to. Around here, Ham is the most likely choice for Easter dinner. If you’re going for ease of preparation and cooking, ham is your best bet. Most come already cooked and only require a slow heat in the oven before serving. I even found one pre-sliced this year!  I quickly snagged that one and away I went to the check out. The kids favourite sandwich for school is ham, cheese and lettuce so we’ll have no problem using up the leftovers. I also like adding diced leftovers to cheesy scrambled eggs in the mornings.

You can simply heat up a ham for Easter but why not go with a Honey and Herb glazed ham? The glaze has flavourful Litehouse herbs whisked together with butter and honey. To ensure the glaze doesn’t start to burn at the end I like to add some liquid to the bottom of the pot. Water is fine but I increased the flavours even more by using half water and half Litehouse Organic Ginger with Honey vinaigrette.
