I enjoy the diversity and originality of food trucks. I think they encourage cooks to make simple full flavor dishes that showcase their inventiveness and creativity. Most of us refer to this as street food, but for many food truck owners this is the food of their families and their cultures. The smells conjure up memories of grandma’s kitchen or family dinners in their home country.
One of the interesting things about this dish is that it can be made with a variety of beef you might have. I have prepared this dish with ground beef that you might use for hamburgers or tacos, but we can also use carne asada beef, short rib or even a nice grilled flank steak.
A note on using Litehouse® Sesame Ginger Dressing and Marinade. If you want a full flavor, I recommend you marinate your beef overnight. If you do not have time or just forgot do not worry the dressing has a great flavor that you can pour some over top of the completed dish you will be good to go.
I think part of what makes this recipe awesome is that it is easy to substitute ingredients. Outside of what kind of beef to use, you can radically vary the flavors on this dish by swapping in and out your favorite Asian inspired vegetables. I mean some people just do not love pickled ginger and that is okay. Whereas if you love Asian mushrooms or snow peas, you would not be remiss in adding them.
I also think it is important to consider whether you want to pair this dish with other Asian flavors. I think Kimchi is a fantastic paring with this dish, but I also know it’s not for everyone so if you want a larger portion and love Kimchi then by all means use a larger serving bowl and add it directly to the mix.
This dish is perfect on the go for lunch or as a late-night snack because it is quick and easy to make.
